Since the beginning of time there have been people who could apparently sense things that were beyond the abilities of other. In some cultures they were revered. In many societies they were feared and sometimes killed. Many people seek guidance from clairvoyants who can see and interpret the future. A large number of people believe they have a sixth sense that they can use spontaneously in everyday life. Many successful business people use their sixth sense to make the right decisions on the spur of the moment. Extrasensory perception is a term that is used loosely to describe a range of paranormal phenomena. If a person is able to describe a place or an event hundreds of miles away, this might be due to a number of extrasensory possibilities. They could include the following: telepathy, clairvoyance, remote viewing, or out-of body experiences. Some researchers believe that our minds may be receiving ESP signals all the time, and that our normal, everyday activities drown them out. The result: the messages penetrate our conscious minds only in exceptional circumstances. Telepathy refers to the communication of minds by extrasensory means. To use telepathy a person would have to communicate with the mind of someone who was witnessing it. Clairvoyance is the talent to "see" events simply by tuning into them in some way that does not involve readings minds. Clairaudience is the ability to "hear" in some inexplicable way. Joan of Arc at age 13 heard voices that she believed foretold her future. The voices said she would lead an army again the English siege at Orleans in 1429 and that she would be wounded during the fighting. Both of these predictions proved accurate. Joan of Arc was tried and convicted of witchcraft and heresy by the church in 1431. She was burned at the stake. Nearly 500 years later, the Catholic Church declared her a saint. In 1958 Dr. Milan Ryzl of Czechoslovakia conducted clairvoyant experiments with a young girl named Josefka. She was hypnotized and then given sealed opaque envelopes containing Zener cards and asked to identify them. Zener cares are used to test psychic ability. Zener cards have five different symbols on them: a circle, a square, a plus sign, wavy lines and a star. Out of 250 guesses, Josefka was right 121 times. If chance alone had been responsible, she might have given only 50 correct answers. During one hypnotic test, Josefka because upset and described an event in which a friend was approached by a stranger. Josefka "saw" them drive off then stop. Believing this to be a premonition, Josefka phoned her friend the net day and warned her about being approached by a stranger. It was too late. The event had happened at exactly the time Josefka "saw" it while under hypnosis. Mind Travel/Remote Viewing means using the mind to "travel" consciously to a distant location, see it and describe it rather than just "knowing" about it. Remote viewing does not involve two individuals "transmitting" and "receiving" images/ It consists of one person's mind "roaming" in search of information. More people are likely to experience ESP at night than during the day. Researchers discovered that when people dream their eye muscles show rapid eye movement (REM) and are probably most receptive to ESP during this time. See Monroe Institute, Hemi-Sync, Lucid Dreaming information. Out of Body Experience - leaving the body - OBE is similar to remote viewing. Individuals state that they are able to visit and see locations miles away. The difference is that such individuals claim to detach their "astral bodies" fro their physical bodies during sleep or trance. Thus the astral body is free to travel to the site in question and witness an event. Dying Messages or Deathbed Visions have been reported around the world and are often similar. Dying people sometimes report seeing a dead loved one who, they suggest, has come to meet them. In other instances, the emotions of the dying may impact the living. The living person may suddenly know the event, receive an answer to a question or be guided in some way to a new life path.
