Everyone has a brain. Life is impossible without a brain. However, few people use the full capability of their mind. Frequent use of a mind machine can improve physical, sexual and intellectual performance. Mind machines also entrain the brain to deep relaxation and sleep. The pulsating light and binaural beats of a mindmachine can induce a shamanic effect aiding in meditation, contemplation, heightened spiritual awareness and revelations of the subconscious mind. The brain is more complex than the most sophisticated computer. Computers can not operate without a programmer. Every function of a computer has a program running it. The concept of a separate mind interacting with the body's brain leave the possibility that this "mind" might survive physical death. No two brains of any living creature are the exact same. The brain and its function is unique to each individual. The mind is even more complex. It can not be seen, x-rayed, or measured in any way. Each person will change their mind more frequently than their clothes. The brain/mind makes millions of decisions. Some decisions are made after gathering of information and some are instantaneous. For instances it may take months to decide what house to buy. It takes a split second to swerve and avoid on going traffic. Researchers into psi are still trying to locate the precise area of the brain that might be responsible for mysterious paranormal talents. Conventional medicine has made considerable progress in charting the workings of the human brain. The human brain weighs about three pounds and is similar in appearance to a gray walnut. The brain contains billions of nerve cells. Yet the brain does not appear to experience pain as other organs of the body do. Without any individual effort, when a section of the brain is stimulated electromechanically, the corresponding part of the body can respond. Not only will the physical body respond but event the most insignificant memory can be retrieved. The brain contains two cerebral hemispheres, linked by about 300 million nerve fibers. The left and right hemispheres are similar in structure but have functional differences. The left hemisphere control the right hand side of the body. The left brain is considered: analytical, logical and responsible for language. The right hemisphere controls the left hand side of the body and is considered to be the source of emotional response and intuition. Each hemisphere is subdivided into lobes. Each functions differently. At the front of the brain is the frontal lobe responsible for intellectual matters. The parietal lobes on top of the brain direct sensory and motor regions. The central temporal lobes have areas related to memory and emotion. Although the eyes are in the front of the head, the occipital lobe that governs visual input is at the back of the head. There are numerous examples of special talents appearing in individuals who are of very low intelligence or autistic. These individuals may be limited in most areas but excel in a particular area. Most of these special talents involve an element of "photographic memory". Scientist believe that the human body and its organs can be explained in electrical and chemical terms. But, scientist can not explain the mystery of the human mind. Split brains studies conducted by Roger Sperry at the California Institute of Technology, demonstrated that when severing the nerve fibers of the corpus callosum, (fibers linking left and right brain) few effects were noted. However, under special experimental conditions, it was possible to control the information entering each half of the brain. The two haves were not in communication, the result apparently was to split the person into two virtually separate individuals, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, and its own "personality". What was noted was that the brain functions were reversed. 17th century philosopher Rene Descrates believed that the mind was an immaterial substance that could interact with the body through the brain. Descrates was a dualist. He believed that what happens in the body can produce effects on the mind and vice versa. Roger Penrose uses the mysteries of guantum mechanics to account for the still unexplainable aspects of the mind. Not all believers in ESP and other paranormal phenomena believe in the immaterial mind. Some think that the paranormal can be explained by the special and unique power of the brain, yet undetected and therefore not understood by science.
