Parapsychology Parapsychology is the field of study that is outside the realm of normal experience and existence. Parapsychology is the study of phenomena where there is a separation of subjective and objective assumptions, presumptions and theories. Anomalous refers to phenomena because the events do not precisely fit the scientific models. Parapsychology explores the beliefs of: psi - the Greek letter that represents psychic - the unconscious/subconscious part of the mind that is often associated with phenomena; psychokinesis (the ability to move/bend objects using one's mind); telepathy (the ability to know another's thoughts or transmit thoughts to another); out of body experiences - OBEs - the ability to have the spirit/chi/ki/soul/self leave the body and for the body to remain alive; the use of intuition to predict events or outcomes; extrasensory perception - ESP - the ability to see/hear in a totally different form than in conscious reality, the ability to make the right decision in a split second, acting upon a hunch and have a good outcome; psychic healing, the ability to heal an injury or illness using prayer, meditation and directing energy; near death experience, the body is in a state of death while the spirit/soul/mind/ki/chi enters another plane of existence, ie, heaven/hell. However, when scientific measurements are applied the beliefs/truths fall short of expectation. To those who have had these experiences, they are real and they are legitimate. To those that have not had the experiences, only time and the personal experience will prove spirits, ghosts and visions true or false. Regardless of scientific measurement. Our ancestors had fire, the wheel and the pyramids. They accomplished great feats of architecture and believed that there was an after life, that the living must pay homage to the deceased and that preparation for the "next" life or spirit world was as important as any other concern of the living. We have computers and the world wide web. Some question the value of spiritual beliefs and mysticism stating that science is everything. Each person is entitled to their belief and their search for their truth.
