PSI - Psycho paranormal skills and abilities. PSI is a term used to identify the powers of the mind that may be responsible
for incidents of paranormal activity. Psi is the 23rd letter of the Greek
alphabet and has been used since the late 1940s to represent parapsychological
mind powers, including ESP (extrasensory perception and PK (psychokinesis).
Freud used the term "hysteria" to identify symptoms of false pregnancy. He reasoned that if physical symptoms as swelling of the abdomen could occur that the no one could consciously develop or manifest symptoms of pregnancy. He began to realize that there must be some form of unconscious mind, that had greater powers than the conscious mind. He observed that individuals were not aware of the power the unconscious mind or what they were doing. Modern researchers feel that powers of the unconscious and subconscious mind may be responsible for those aspects of the paranormal that are collectively referred to as psi. In the late 1930's Dr. J. B. Rhine coined the term extrasensory perception. Dr. Rhine pioneered statistical study of psychic powers at Duke University, North Carolina, USA. Extrasensory perception - ESP - now includes: telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and retrocognition, the ability of an individual to use personal power to "see" or know about objects or events without the use of the known senses. Many researchers including Dr. Rhine do not view these events as supernatural. They are viewed as a function of the brain that science is not yet able to identify or explain. Each individual is different and results vary. No guarantee is implied or made for development or enhancement of a particular psychic skill with the use of a mind machine.
